Flower Abstract

This card features an abstract flower made with a mix of Distress Crayon applied with a Magenta stencil, Distress Oxide, and Perfect Pearls. The Distress Crayon was used as a partial-resist. While Distress Crayon is water reactive, it doesn't 'move' unless you actually interact directly with it. So, it will stay, like a resist, unless it's wiped or touched directly. It's only a partial resist because you can wipe a full resist and it will still stay put.

These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).

Putting It Together

I decided to do some experimenting with Distress Crayon and Distress Oxide. This project is the result.

I started with Distress Crayon Mermaid Lagoon, adding it with the stencil..

.. and blending it with my finger.

With the stencil secured on one side, you can lift it up like a door to see if you need more.

After removing the stencil, I added Distress Oxide over the panel, Wilted Violet and Worn Lipstick. The Distress Crayon is a semi-resist. The wet ink on the blender doesn't smear the Crayon.

I used gold Perfect Pearls in a Mister with water to spray the panel.

And dried the panel with a heat tool.

Then sprayed Confetti White Perfect Pearls on the panel.

After drying the panel again, I removed the washi that was securing it to the work surface.

I trimmed the panel and added Broken China Oxide to the edges.

To give the plain black matting a bit of zazz, I sprayed it with Grape Fizz Perfect Pearls and dried it with the heat tool.

I dry fit the panels.

Since the mat and coloured panel were slightly warped, I used Scor-tape to adhere them. Then I adhered it to a top fold card. The shimmer on this card is amazing but not easy to see in the pictures. I left the inside blank so this card can be used for anything.
